Rules
Rules are often necessary. They let us know what to do and, sometimes, how to do it.
Occasionally they can be stumbling blocks to creativity, though. In that case, don't be afraid to forget/completely ignore the rules.
When I was creating my unart word pictures this past weekend, I almost didn't get started at all because of everything I'd been taught about art. Instead, I decided to ignore it and keep going with it. If I didn't like it, it could be painted over. As it turned out, I like how they look. They are honestly hanging on the wall in my office now. They might not be exactly what I wanted, but they're a lot closer than anything I could buy.
If you need to, ignore the rules to embrace your creativity.
